Purchase: I wanted warmer riding pants for fall and winter use. I have other outerwear in the PolarTec fabric, and it works well. These were about $140 at a local tack store, and I took a pair home. In ladies large, to get the full seat option, but don't tell my riding buddies :-)

Likes: They are super comfy, and warm. They fit and look great. They seem to shed dirt, hay, and horsey grime. They do a great job of blocking the wind, and at least a reasonable job at blocking light precipitation. I haven't had the misfortune to pit them against heavy rain, or snow, but other PolarTec garments I own have performed well in these conditions, so I have high expectations. I also plan on using them for cross-country skiing.

Dislikes: The fabric is not as durable as I had hoped for. What I would have considered a very minor encounter with a broken-off branch while pushing thru some brush ripped a six inch flap from the thigh of my first pair. Honestly, it hardly even registered as a snag until I noticed my leg getting cold. In side by side comparison with the PolarTec in my Arcteryx jacket, the WindPro fabric is a bit lighter, softer to the hand, and noticeably stretchier. And no where near as tough, alas.

Quality: Other than the ease with with the fabric tears, I have no issues with these breeches. After trashing my first pair, I went out and bought another; that should say something :-)

Summary: Simply great breeches for cooler weather, but do be careful of potential snags and tears. I have other riding pants, but these are the ones that get worn.
