Summary: I too, have always heard good things about Dixieland Saddles; so I took a leap of faith and ordered this past summer. I didn't want a flex tree, so I ordered the wood tree; which then classified the order as a "custom" saddle and as such, could not be returned. Cynthia's comment was, "it cannot be returned so we better get it right." Since it was a custom saddle, I went all out and ordered all I wanted in a saddle. The Fit to be Seen fit forms arrived and I went to work taking pictures from all angles with each form. After sending photos, Cynthia emailed me with her decision as to which tree form was the fit for my horse. I finalized the order, and waited. The saddle arrived, well made and as others have stated, beautiful. But well made and beautiful aren't good enough when the saddle does not fit the horse! The saddle tree had too much rock and was creating excessive pressure in the middle of his back. His behavior had drastically changed; would try to bite when being saddled; cranky and not willing to move forward! I put my dressage saddle on him and the horse I knew was back…willing and happy. I knew the saddle fit was wrong, but I so badly wanted this saddle to work, that I bought different pads, then had a couple of western trainers, a gaited horse trainer and a saddle fitter look at this saddle (in person or viewed same photos that were sent to Cynthia). Each person said the same thing-TOO MUCH ROCK, and nothing can be done in the way of padding etc to make it fit. So I contacted Cynthia and gave her the news. Her comment was, no return but she would be willing to sell it for me and send me the money. Geezzeee...I can sell it myself and save the shipping costs! I cannot tell you how disappointed I am. Why should I be out $$$$ for this saddle when she made the decision on which saddle tree to use???? I could see it if I chose it.
There are many good reviews out there. I wonder how many negative reviews are out there that never were published. I can't be the only one!
