Purchase: Volant paddock boots were purchased from my local tack store & the half chaps were purchased new from e-bay. I got a deal on the half chaps - so total I paid a little over $300.
Likes: Everything. They are so comfortable. I wish I would’ve purchased them sooner. I wore Ariat Heritage and Dublin paddock boots previously and there is just no comparison. Imagine the difference between running 3 miles in a pair of uncomfortable dress shoes and then having someone hand you a pair of perfectly fitted tennis shoes. I'm an amateur jumper and I’m certainly not a professional - but I am at the barn 5 days a week for several hours at a time - and these boots make all the difference in terms of comfort.
Dislikes: Nothing really, except that I'm 5'7" and I got the half chaps in a small tall and the paddock boots in a 7, even though I usually wear an 8. I was familiar enough with Ariat sizing to know that their boots run large and that I needed to purchase them from a tack store where I could try them on. I would have preferred an XS Tall for the half chaps - but I couldn't get the XS Tall to fit over the size 7 Volant paddock boot. However I still could not be more pleased with these boots. It is also disappointing that they don't make them in men's sizes as several of the male members of our local hunt and my male trainer would enjoy the comfort of these boots.
Quality: The boots and half chaps are exceedingly well made, and the calf skin leather on the inside of the half chaps is super grippy. I felt like the volant half chaps and boots were kind of expensive until I held them in my hands and felt the thickness of the leather and the quality of the craftsmanship and stitching. I've worn them 5 days a week for 4 months now, and they are showing little to no signs of wear. They also break in very quickly. I did have some blisters on the back of my ankle, but nothing compared to a normal break-in time.
Summary: You will not regret purchasing these boots.
