JC Vienna II
Dressage Saddles

Manufacturer: Thornhill
Model: JC Vienna II
Category: Dressage Saddles

Purchase: I bought this 19" Medium tree Vienna II saddle on ebay and paid 598.00 on a year end close out from a saddle company online. I've been watching them for sometime and they usually sell new for 798 to 900 with free shipping. My saddle also came with free Thornhill stirrup leather and irons As well as a free Thornhill saddle cover that is quite nice.

Likes: It' a nice saddle. Its well stitched with nice leather. The seat is grippy and VERY soft and comfortable but the thing i think i like the most is that it puts me in the correct dressage position. Before buying this saddle i rode in s variety of jumping and stubben Scandica saddles and my trainer was always after me to "put my legs back" which was very hard with other saddles. With this Vienna II My legs magically went to the correct position and I couldn't be more pleased :) Overall its a very well made saddle that is comfortable for both me and my horse. I love the price, even if you pay "full" price of 798 to 900 it's still a very good deal.

Dislikes: Honestly it's a really nice little saddle. IF i had to split hairs the only thing i might say as a dislike is that the Y girthing system is made of Nylon that seems a little cheap on the top half, (leather on the bottom half)well see how it wears.

Quality: This saddle is black with soft English style leather that is pliable flexible and a good thickness (not too thin or thick just right). It has a thinner leather (calf leather?) on the panels underneath and on the seat itself. the gullet is nice and wide all the way down, which is good for freeing up the spine. The seat is VERY soft and it has soft knee pads with the hidden blocks. the stitching is all tight and correct.

Summary: Bottom line this is a really awesome saddle for the money. I have been looking for a larger size saddle to fit my 40something bigger behind. I'm 250lbs and i felt crammed into an 18" saddle. The 19 was perfect and Vienna II even makes a 20" for us plus sized riders. I think this saddle is very comfortable AND it puts you in the correct Dressage position. I would never have believed that a saddle could make this much of a difference but it does! Now that I know how nice these saddle are I'd buy another one again in a second. I've have many other saddles some by Passier and by Stubben (bought used) and this new Vienna II is totally my favorite. it's a great value. You will NOT be disappointed with this saddle.
