Purchase: After researching saddles (4 months!) I finally came across trailridingsaddles.com and was convinced. After looking at the different models and combinations you could make for your own custom saddle, I chose the Cascade Wade saddle. Picked out the leather colors, tooling, strings, wraps, amount of skirting, etc... even got the extra back girth with more latigo strings and hoof pick holders. Doesn't hurt that Staci is a doll to work with (and very patient, even if you're extremely fussy and keep changing your mind on colors and suede versus smooth seats!) With shipping--price came to about $1,200 for my own custom (GORGEOUS) saddle.
Likes: I love everything about this saddle!! Best part is that I know it fits my horse. Prior to building, Staci sent out the Steele fit-to-be-seen forms for me to try on my horse. This only made me feel more comfortable knowing the saddle wouldn't just be aesthetically pleasing, but perfect for my horse's back. How could all horses either be FQHB or SQHB? Having the forms sent out to FIT your horse only makes sense!!
Dislikes: Well, it's gorgeous...so, I don't like that it's going to get dirty/muddy and used. If that is it's only downfall, then it is something I can live with.
Quality: After my first ride out on it, I can say the quality is amazing. The seat is so comfortable, I love the acorn/oakleaf tooling and giant horn, the leather color is spot on and it's got ties and hooks everywhere you could imagine. Can you be in love with a saddle? I've tugged on all the strings and put it through some paces and I think I'm going to get years and years of riding out of this beauty!
Summary: I did saddle research for months. I looked at used Big Horns and Circle Y's, but why bother? For the same price as those you can have a saddle FITTED to YOUR HORSE and designed to please your eye!! Why would anyone consider any other saddle!?!?!?!!
Bottom line: What are you waiting for!?!?!
