Purchase: Purchased from Skylands Saddlery for $5,945.00. I originally purchased from Skylands because I needed help with a horse that was hard to fit. The owner, Ronni, is great..... until she has your money. After that, she doesn't work weekends, she doesn't work nights, she cancels appointments and every phone call or saddle fitting appointment comes with a mandatory half-hour diatribe about how hard she works. There is no customer service and no follow up at all.
Likes: Unfortunately, it is hard to like anything about the saddle. For the price of the saddle and the price of the follow up visits, I expected more. Skylands is the only Schleese rep in the area and a saddle is only as good as its customer service. Schleese has no customer service and I have nothing good to say about the saddle.
Dislikes: In the four times Ronni from Skylands service came out to try to fit the saddle to my horse she overstuffed the panels and they became rock hard and lumpy. I expected better from a brand new saddle. In stead of tweaking the frame (supposedly adjustable) Ronni overstuffed the withers area and that also became rock hard and lumpy. Making an appointment with Skylands saddlery involves calling every day of the week, several times a day until you are lucky enough to reach the scheduler. They never call you back. And again, a saddle is only as good as its customer service and Schleese has no customer service.
Quality: Theoretically, this should have been a great saddle but I had so many customer service issues that the saddle was never fit to my horse. I have nothing good to say about this saddle.
Summary: There are quite a few saddles makers that offer custom fit and excellent customer service. Schleese is not one of them. Ronnie openly tells you how important she is and how hard she works, I didn't mind it at the beginning but its become excessive and with time I sold the saddle. Schleese has no customer service.
