Model: Plantation Saddle with Endurance Skirts (View all Plantation Saddle with Endurance Skirts reviews)

Category: Trail Saddles

Purchase: I ordered this beautiful saddle directly from Dixieland Gaited Saddles, The saddle itself was $1,069. I also ordered a breast collar, two wool felt saddle pads and misc extras ... total order, including shipping, was $1,656

Dislikes: I do have one quick gripe, and its so small as to be downright silly. There are some rings on the front of the pommel for attaching bags, whatnot, and they do make a little noise. I'm going to go on out w/ a little "artificial sinew" and wrap the rings so that they don't jingle. I like how they're placed, and they're going to come in handy, I just don't like the noise.

Quality: Very well made. Sturdy, with high-quality leather and the "equi-flex" tree. I had it done with the Oak leaves / acorn tooling as well as basket weave, and its just beautiful as well as functional. Also, I got two wool felt pads with the saddle (because I'm a maniac about cleanliness, and want one to be clean at all times...) To anyone considering this, I'd say BUY THE PADS. They're a great value for the money, and beat the tarnation out of anything you'll find at your local tack store, which, by the way, will cost the same or more for lesser quality felt. (The ones I saw locally were the same price, but half the thickness and the stitching wasn't as nice as the pads I ordered from Dixieland.) I'm really glad I ordered these.

Summary: Outstanding customer service, good communication, and a beautiful finished product. I'd gladly recommend Dixieland Gaited Saddles to anyone ... by the way, my horse is NOT a gaited horse; she's an Arab/Andalusian cross, and a little on the "hard to fit" side! Cynthia made the process easy, and I'm delighted with my new saddle ... now, I think I'm going to call her up and order a matching bridle w/ split reins!
