Purchase: It was time to go breech shopping again! I haven't done so in about 6 years because my Devon-Aires have held up so well; but the inner thighs finally blew out on one pair and on another the stitching holding the waistband on was falling apart, leaving me with one pair. I really wanted some rust or dark brown colored ones so I searched online. I found some on Equus Unlimited's site. They were on sale for only $34.99; so I said SNAG!

Likes: I like the color of course. Being dark, they don't show off the panty lines as well as a lighter breech would (that was an unanticipated benefit). They are SO soft and very breathable. The clarino synthetic suede knee patches are velvety soft yet substantial enough to protect your inner leg from being rubbed by your boot cuff. The velcro ankle closures are more roomy than my older breeches, which makes them very comfortable to wear over my paddock boots. The elastic waist band is also soft to the touch, which is nice if you don't want to tuck your shirt in. My older Devon-Aires have a very rubbery feeling waistband that chaffs me so I usually wear them with my shirt tucked and a belt on (at least it looks smarter! :) The pocket is roomy and not made of the same flimsy liner type of cloth that was used on my older breeches. It's made of a rather sturdier material. The zipper for the pocket is low profile with a sharp little easy to grasp grip. On the fly, the hook closure is well made, easy to use, nicely embellished and also sturdy feeling and so is the zipper; a nice sturdy zipper. As far as fit, It's like a dream come true for me! I do not care for the current fashion trend of low rise or even mid rise pants, particularly when it comes to breeches. I like my pants to come up to my natural waist and these deliver! They sit at or even maybe just a little above my naval (Devon-Aire does offer breeches that are lower rise for those who like that fit). I really like the way they fit me. I don't have to keep pulling my pants up and I don't have to be concerned with anyone seeing my undies while mounted. Like the fit, like the feel, like the comfort. Great breech for me!!!!

Dislikes: Initially when I pulled the breeches out of the packaging I was put off by how thin they were. I was really concerned about panty lines but like I said, the dark color helps to hide these. As I mentioned, I haven't bought Devon-Aires in about 6 years and the material back then was much more substantial feeling. However, after wearing these to work in the hot Florida sun a couple times, I decided I was okay with the material being more breathable. I just hope that they hold up well, particularly on the inner thigh. Of course, another thing I didn't like was the fact that Devon-Aire products were once made in the Dominican Republic of American components (according to a tag on my old breeches) but these were made in.....you guessed it.....CHINA.

Quality: These appear so far to be put together rather well. The stitching is tight and straight. I really appreciate that there is extra stitch patterns on the knee patches. The whole look and feel of the breech is that of a quality garment.

Summary: So long as these breeches hold up to my use, I would certainly buy them again. They are certainly my favorite pair of breeches! If you're looking for a nice warm weather breech, I would certainly recommend the Devon-Aire Versailles line.
