Purchase: After several frustrating trips to tack shops, trying out saddles, and having to drive all the way back to return them (no tack shops nearby), and then trying saddles on line, and having to pay shipping back and forth, with no success in getting a proper fit,I bought this Hastilow Piaffe dressage saddle used from a master saddle fitter. I paid about $1800, and it was in excellent condition, having been used as a demonstrator. My narrow OTTB was difficult to fit, and the difference in his movement was immediate with the Hastilow. He was obviously more comfortable, with more swing in his back and free movement of his shoulder, etc.
Likes: I find it a comfortable saddle for my horse and my self. I feel secure and in balance. My horse can move freely in his back and shoulder with this saddle.
Dislikes: I have been very pleased with this saddle.
Quality: It is well constructed of high quality leather. Despite almost daily use for more than 3 years now, it shows little wear. It is wool flocked, which I like, since it can be restuffed easily as my horse's muscling and shape changes. The stitching shows no wear. The gullet is nice and wide.
Summary: I would recommend this saddle to anyone looking for a comfortable, well made dressage saddle.
