Purchase: I bought these boots from VictoryCanter.com for around 80$. These company is phenomenal and always had the best selection, plus they are one of the few authorised dealers of Mountain Horse boots, but that's another review.
Likes: I bought these as a pair of "work" boots to wear around the stables. I had never bought a pair of inexpensive boots but I quickly learned from trying several on in the price range (and from advice from store owner) that these boots were the best. I tried on one other synthetic boot (Tuff Rider Starter) that was awful and was priced within a few dollars. I also tried the cheapest leather boot they carried (Ovation). What I learned was this: the Equistar has no break-in, was incredibly comfortable, beautifully fitted and seemed sturdy enough thus far. I would highly recommend as a work boot, beginner boot or even a amateur show boot. The 150$ Ovation boots didn't even compare as the leather is so cheap and stiff that I wholly believe in either grabbing a pair of these boots to start out with or jumping up to Ariats or (my personal favourite) Mountain Horse Supreme.
Dislikes: Absolutely no dislikes. It does not look like a cheap boot. The zipper IS plastic but it works very well.
Quality: The boot is a tall zip field boot. Synthetic leather which means not one minute of break in time is needed. The boot is available in regular or wide fit and even my tiny legs are snug in the regular size. Standard laces come with the boots. Nice snap closure up top. Looks nice, the synthetic material is convincingly like leather.
Summary: I would highly recommend these boots and the seller. Not all of us like paddock boots and half chaos and this boot offers a great trail boot at the same price without the hassle of pulling chaps on and off. As I said, beginners, amateur show-ers and those touted of ruining good boots by mucking in them will likely do well with this boot. This is coming from a die hard former Ariat fan. For the price range (80-200) you cannot beat these boots.
