Purchase: Purchased through independent saddle fitter, Susan and Dave Hartje in California, demo model $2300.
Likes: I have a wide, flat back, mutton-withered Haflinger gelding and could not afford a custom saddle. Saddlefitter was in our area and brought out many different mades/models. This saddle was an instant "wow" when I rode in it. It has a medium twist, very secure seat, and overall much lighter in weight than my current Schleese Wave. Love this saddle! Great for wide-backed horses!!
Dislikes: Nothing....except I had never heard of this saddlemaker before, may make it harder to sell later down the road.
Quality: Lightweight spring tree, made in Scotland, carried by Borne Saddlery in Texas, can be purchased online and/or through independent saddle fitters. Medium twist, comfortable secure seat, large thigh blocks (different sizes available). Flaps are "pebbled" leather, love the look and feel.
Summary: Anyone with a wide-bodied, flat back horse should consider these saddles; they cost less and are, in my opinion, just as comfortable as the $5K custom saddles. Small company - GREAT product!!
