Gordon Hayes Sliding Gag Bit (long shanks)
Western Bridle Acc

Manufacturer: Gordon Hayes
Model: Gordon Hayes Sliding Gag Bit (long shanks)
Category: Western Bridle Acc

Purchase: I bought this bit on the advice of my trainer. It can be purchased on line at www.ghbitsofsilver.com The style I bought was $60.00.

Likes: This is a great training and all around using bit. It can be as gentle or as tough as you need. Great for going from a snaffle to the next step or for softening an older horse at the pole. I use this bit on a tough Andalusian cross and he loves it. He gives to the bit now with ease. I can collect him in with little effort or throw away the reins and let him walk on. It is really cool looking too! You will stand out in a crowd because it's not a bit that everyone has in their tack room! I always get attention where ever I go and lots of questions about this bit. Can you tell I LOVE this bit?

Dislikes: It does develope some rust which alot of people like, but I don't. I have to remember to dry it off after I use it and I put some vegetable oil on it now and then too to prevent the rust.

Quality: Extremely well made, handcrafted (you can tell). Will last a lifetime

Summary: A SUPER all-around using bit. Maybe not for the show ring (neither am I!) but perfect for everyday trail riding or to tune up a horse. I am very confidant when I have this bit on my horse knowing that it is as gentle as a snaffle but I know he will not run through it if I add more pressure.
