Purchase: I bought this blanket from HorseLoverz for about $80 if I remember correctly. I bought it in late 2009. I ALWAYS buy Schneider's, but I bought this one because I was having other people changing my blanket and they couldn't tell the Schneider's blankets apart, so I bought a different brand so they could tell them apart. I reviewed this once before in early 2010, but I would like to review it again after having it for longer.
Likes: The cool color choices and the snap front closure system. That's about it.
Dislikes: Everything else. The waterproofing is terrible. Before I ever washed it, in the first season I had it, it would get soaked all the way through from a light rain. I would not call that "waterproof." The lining, which is apparently polyester (?), clings to the horse's coat and rubs, instead of making the coat smooth and shiny like nylon-lined blankets. It doesn't move over the horse's coat at all--just clings and sits there. The lining bunches in the places it is the least needed--at the bottom of the belly and by the buttocks, leaving the rest of the blanket more like a sheet. It also bunches out the back, making it look like a balloon on the horse's butt. It tore easily within weeks of having it, at the belly strap. The leg straps also tore off in the first season, and since they are not attached with dees but rather sewn on, I could not replace them. The blanket hangs to one side on all 3 horses I have ever put this on, and no other blankets do that on any of these horses. The neck opening has stretched out and is even too big on the tightest setting for my foundation quarter horse.
Quality: Very poor. Everything breaks or tears or bunches or rubs.
Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS BLANKET. I learned my lesson--Schneider's is the only brand of blanket I will ever buy again.
