Purchase: I purchased my saddle from Dixieland Gaited Saddles website, it was referred to me by a friend who also has a Tennessee Walker. There were many options to choose from so I ended up calling and talking to Cynthia, who took the time to go through everything with me. The final cost of the saddle with all the options was $1,800
Likes: The hand crafted quality is second to none, the saddle is so beautiful, I get a lot of compliments on it. It fits my horse perfectly and is so comfortable to sit in and ride on for hours with no aches and pains from either me or my horse.I ordered the Dark oil in 2 tone, with a black, suede extra padded seat. Gorgeous!Love the trooper fenders I ordered, th ease of raising and lowering stirrups like and english saddle is definitely a plus. The customizing options are many, from the many color options, seats, cantles, fenders, tooling, and accessories, that it is truly a one of a kind saddle when you get it designed the way you want it.
Dislikes: There is nothing I don't like about my saddle, it's perfect. The only thing I personally had to get used to was the stirrups sit a little farther back from my previous saddle, a bit behind girth, where my old saddle they were closer to the forelegs and girth. It actually positions your feet like and english saddle and you sit straighter in the seat. My trainer always said my feet were too far forward before so this is correcting me.
Quality: The saddle is all hand made, and it is not only well constructed but beautiful to look at! My saddle is so nice I didnt want to use it and get it dirty, I had it on the saddle rack just admiring it's beauty.
Summary: If you have a gaited horse and are looking for a beautiful well constructed hand made saddle, that is full customizable, this is the place to get it from. It is also very reasonably priced compared to other custom saddles I have looked at. The customer service that Cynthia gives you, with her sweet southern hospitality and knowledge of saddles, makes you want to keep coming back and spreading the word for her. My next purchase with be the matching saddle bags, since I bought everything else, that is the only things left. Dixieland Gaited Saddles is the place to buy if you are thinking of purchasing a saddle for you gaited horse. I think all gaited horses should be lucky enough to have one!
