Purchase: i bought this bridle from horseloverz. it was listed as 139.99 on clearance for 42.50.
Likes: the bridle is cute enough. the flash is totally removable so thats a nice feature. every buckle has a tab of leather behind it to prevent rubbing. and the padding on the noseband and browband is fairly soft.
Dislikes: appearance wise, the bridle is ok. my issues with it are more related to quality and construction, please read below...
Quality: terrible. the leather is carboardy and the dye is more like surface paint. the dye came of in patches with a light cleaning, so i had to scrub all of it off with a stuff brush just to get the bridle an even colour again. the leather is so stiff that even after 6 or 7 treatments with oil, it hasn't softened up. i was trying to bend the leather in my hands to make it more soft and pliable, and it actually cracked and split right in half in two spots. the stitching is crooked and uneven. and the raised part on the browband is not the same as the raised part on the noseband, it just looks weird. the hook stud closures on the reins and cheek pieces are really loose and im worried they will fall right off. some of the lacing on the reins is coming loose already as well.
with the cracking in the leather, and the loose hook stud closures, i really have doubts as to the safety of using this bridle.
Summary: all in all, im disappointed with this purchase. ive had the bridle a week, havent even brought it to the barn because im so busy cleaning and oiling it trying to soften it up, and its already falling apart. i really wish i had spent my money on an old used bridle instead, i probably would have got alot better quality. pretty sure horseloverz lied about it retailing at 139 regularly, if i paid that amount for this bridle id be outraged. im mad i even paid 42.50 for it, in my opinion its worth maybe 20 at most.
