Purchase: I purchased the front boots from dover saddlery for $72 when they were reduced from over $150. I purchased the hind boots from dover saddlery for $76 about 6 months later, because some issues had been fixed with the hind boots.
Likes: These boots are great at protecting my horses legs. He hit a few jumps hard with a back leg at one show, but he was completely fine, thanks to the carbon fiber strip. The velcro on these boots is the strongest velcro I have ever encountered, which is what you want on cross, but it can be difficult to deal with otherwise, such as washing and storing them.
Dislikes: The front boots, being the older version have a lining that is kind of rough, and my friend's thoroughbred seemed to be uncomfortable in them, however the lining of the new version of the boots is a soft neoprene which is much nicer. Also, the hind boots are difficult to put on straight, as they tend to slip to either side, although if you tighten them correctly, they stay in place. This process irritates my normally not sensitive Hanoverian gelding and makes him very irritable as I am tacking up for Cross Country, but once he is moving they are fine. I would try them before buying them if you have a sensitive thoroughbred.
Quality: These boots are very tough. I have had them for over a year, and they do not have any loose seams or things falling off. I expect them to last at least another 5 or 6 years.
Summary: These boots are very low weight and retain almost no water. They are difficult to put on correctly, however it is worth it when your horses legs are protected.
