Dressage Saddles

Manufacturer: Ansur Treeless
Model: Classic
Category: Dressage Saddles

Purchase: I purchased this saddle used for $700 from a private seller on tacktrader.com

Likes: I had been searching for a Dressage Saddle to fit my 5yo haflinger mare who has a flat back and wide shoulders. At 5yo she was already in a 36cm tree and was looking at needing a custom saddle as she filled out. My Dressage instructor who uses an Ansur on her Grand Prix horses recommended I give it a try. The quality of this saddle is very good. It is made with sturdy leather and the stitching is good quality. The leather is not quite as nice as my previous expensive German saddle, but still very good. My mare was comfortable in this saddle from the first ride and after 4 months of 3x per week use her back is still very happy and supple, she has always had even sweat marks when using this saddle. As a rider this saddle does not put and/or hold you in any position so if you are a rider who needs a lot of support from the saddle this may not be for you. There is an adjustment period of about 1 month to be as comfortable in this saddle you were in a traditional treed saddle, but I'm told that is very normal. I like being able to feel my horse move under me, and after riding in it for 4 months feel that my balance and position have improved due to not being able to use the saddle as a crutch.

Dislikes: Because there is no gullet this saddle is a little more prone to roll side to side than a traditional saddle. I was able to fix this easily with the purchase of a Barnsby Grip Pad which holds the saddle exactly where I put it, problem solved.

Quality: This is a very good quality saddle

Summary: This Ansur Saddle has been an excellent choice for my Haflinger Mare and has saved me from needing to buy a custom saddle. I would recommend it for riders who have good balance and position and like close contact with their horse. Also a good choice for riders needing to use one saddle on multiple horses.
