Purchase: I bought these at a local store for about $250 on sale. They were about the only boot they had that went around my calf without being too short.

Likes: They're black. They look ok. The zippers haven't broken.

Dislikes: These have got to be the most uncomfortable boots ever made. I have had them going on two years and still cannot bear to wear them on the ground for longer than it takes to bridle a horse and get on. They leave huge blisters on my ankles even after all this time. The leather on the darn things will NOT soften up like it should. I've tried all sorts of things to help, but nothing does. I am doomed to wear two or three pairs of socks forever under these as they will never wear out. They are ok when mounted, but even then I find them far from comfortable.

Quality: Construction is the issue I think. The seaming makes them not want to bend in all the wrong places. I'm not the only one at the barn who made the mistake of buying these boots and has had similar issues. I suppose the quality is good if you mean they will NEVER wear out because you can't stand to wear them long enough. On the bright side, the elastic gusset does help them stretch a little where needed.

Summary: Unless your ankles are coated in some sort of ballistic material, these are probably not your best bet.
