Purchase: I bought this girth from Dutchess Saddle and Bridle online for $40. Its very hard to find a brown monoflap girth for a decent price to match my monoflap jumper saddle. The only other girth that wasn't $200 was the leather Toulouse monoflap girth but after reading reviews it turns out people aren't that happy with them because they lack a billet holder right above the buckles, which allows the billets to slide off the girth with movement and possibly pinch the skin when riding.

Likes: I love this girth. In the previous 20 years of riding I refused to buy a cheap "no pinch" waffle type, plasticy girth and looked for the contoured leather girths. But with this new saddle any small brown contoured girths were $200 for a 26" girth! So I gave in a tried the Thorowgood girth in brown and I couldn't be happier. It doesn't pinch my mare as it does have some contour to it. It can be hosed off after a hard ride and its dry in 15 minutes! Its super light weight and flexible, but the core does have nylon so it won't stretch or break over time. The elastic on both ends is good quality and gives without stretching too much. Roller buckles are a plus and the ends of the billets tuck in nicely into both a strap and a pocket for the belly of the girth so its very clean and tidy.

Dislikes: Not a single thing. It would be nice if it was leather but honestly, there is no maintenance with this girth and its nice enough to show in even at A shows for the jumpers. It does not draw attention so it blends in nicely. Even the price can't be beat.

Quality: Good quality that will last years. I turned around after a few months and bought my mom a black version for her dressage saddle to replace two others (nylon and fleece versions from other companies) that were bulkier and pinched on certain horses. Couldn't be happier!

Summary: Great girth for an amazing price. You won't regret trying it out, especially if you're looking for a brown monoflap girth!
