Purchase: I bought this blanket for my mare about four years ago. - I wanted to see how it held up before writing a review. I bought it directly from Schneiders Saddlery, for about $140 or so. I don't recall the exact price but I also ordered the matching neck cover. This is a medium weight blanket.
Likes: This is a very attractive blanket; I got the hunter green and the color has remained fast. I love the quick clips at the chest, with the velcro, and the neck cover is very nicely designed with easy attachment to the blanket with small carabiner snaps. The fit is exceptionally good, and after three years of use it has held up, and maintained its waterproofing quite well. It also seems to be quite comfortable for the mare to wear.
Dislikes: The tail flap ripped - we repaired it with sail tape, and this repair has held up. The rest of the blanket is totally unscathed.
Quality: This is a 1680 "woven poly nylon." Not quite sure what that means - is it nylon or polyester or perhaps a combination? At any rate, it seems quite durable. There is no loose stitching, all the snaps and buckles are intact as are the surcingles and leg straps. The elastic leg straps have stretched a bit but that's rather trivial and leg straps are cheap to replace.
Summary: I am very happy with the way this blanket has performed, its fit, and its quality construction. It is also an attractive blanket and looks really nice on the horse. WIth the neck cover, this blanket keeps my mare warm down to the single digits.
