Purchase: Received these as a Christmas gift 2 years ago, bought from Greenhawk Ontario. Website says they are $34.99 CDN funds. I have circulation issues and have tried a few winter gloves and asked for these to see if better warmth. I take care of small stable of horses and spend lots of time outside in sub zero temps during winter.
Likes: I know this is crazy to state first but loved the feel of the insides of these gloves - very soft and comfortable. Also like the fit being true as I wear a size 7 and they fit well. Very snug to pull on so they stay on. The snug knit cuff keeps out snow and wind and tucks nicely up into my coat.
They have a convenient elastic loop you can put on first around your wrist so if opening a tricky latch in winter and need to remove glove it can just dangle from your wrist and no lost glove! Outer material seemed to be fairly waterproof for me while refilling buckets. Repels snow nicely.
Best of all YES they do keep my hands warm, I've worn them at -10 Celsius and they work great.
Dislikes: As I mentioned, a bit snug to get on, so not easy to slip on/off when needed. They are a bit thicker than other (cheaper) gloves, but not too bad. I can live with it to keep my hands from freezing. Ok feel for leads and reins, but do have insulation in fingers making them thicker. So a trade off on this point. I've used them both for indoor riding and outside winter hacking.
The most annoying thing is freezing fingers and we've had a super cold winter with many, many days well below minus 10 and closer to minus 20 Celsius. My fingers still became frozen up. Had to stop and rewarm them. Wish they were called 20 BELOW, haha.
Quality: So far I like the quality, no issues however I have been using them a lot for barn work which is not such a good idea if you want to preserve them for winter riding. Starting to show signs of use. The synthetic leather is grippy and flexible which allows for two fingers to pick up individual items like lines or a cell phone easily. Fit comfortably, no seems bother me. I like the quality and construction of these gloves. My fingers bend around stuff okay but just not the same as of course as thinner gloves.
Summary: Yes, I would recommend them to anyone working with horses in subzero weather. Pleasantly surprise as most winter gloves have not worked for me, either being too thick or not warm enough. These live up to their name, 10 BELOW Waterproof. This is my second year with them and going strong. Tested and approved!
