Purchase: I recently purchased a gently used 14" Custom G-G barrel saddle after seeing one awhile ago and letting it slip away. The model I purchased runs around $2900+ new, as this had some added custom details like brass dots and hardware.
Likes: This saddle is absolutely gorgeous. I think a lot of people will overlook them because they are not flashy or blingy enough, but in reality they are a beautiful, well made saddle, with top of the line leather and workmanship. The leather is butter soft, and the saddle is put together right. This was made to last a lifetime, and have no doubt it will. When I found out it was only a 6 1/4" gullet, I was skeptical of it fitting my huge bodied horses, but with the wide bar angle and flare, this saddle fits a variety of horses well, even my draft crosses. I had tried it on one of my funny guilt, mutton withered horses, where all the saddles so far I have tried have rolled on him, and this is the only saddle so far that has not rolled, and I don't need to cut him in two when I cinch him up to keep it from rolling. Tee ground seat on this saddle is wonderful, and is honestly the most comfortable saddle I have ever rode in , including Double J, Triple Creek, Coats, just to name a few.Well worth the investment, and I hope to add a few more to my tack room in the nest year or so.
Dislikes: There really isn't anything I don't like, but I will say the way the stirrup adjustments are rigged takes a little getting used to. Once u figure it out, it is no problem, does take take a bit of time. I do know u can have them made with regular blevins buckles and such, but I have to say now that I am used to it, I don't know if I would switch back.
Quality: Top quality workmanship and materials. Cannot fault anything on the construction of this saddle.
Summary: Wonderful saddle, built to last, fits a horse extremely well. Quality workmanship, with top of the line, materials. Well worth the investment. Out of all of the saddles I have and have had, Double J, Triple Creek, Coats, Slone, Merrill, etc., this is definitely my favorite.
