Purchase: Bought on eBay for $185, barely used and like new. I heard horses love the comfort of this girth. My saddle fits so my only reason to try this girth is to make my horse happy at girthing time. I've had him in several nice girths, adding sheepskin covers, keeping the girth only snug, so he hasn't suffered but he still looked around at me when time for the last hole. He does love his Le Tixerant and that was obvious from the first time. No more looks! It's pricey but I can't imagine needing to replace it so I'm DONE with girth shopping. This girth is IT for us.
Likes: I especially like that the stretchy rubber center snugs completely and not only through the middle. The fabric outside is easy to brush off hair and the leather buckle ends look really nice and that is all that actually is visible. I like the wide buckle wraps that keep the billet ends tidy. I can keep it only just snug, rather than snugger, because it doesn't go anywhere. The entire rubber stretchy center section stays engaged with his sternum during a ride and I don't need to tighten after warm up. I suppose with the stretch it can be tightened quite a bit, but I don't need to do that. We don't have conformation or saddle issues that might require that.
Dislikes: There is nothing I dislike about this girth. Maybe the price, but I can take all my other girths to the consignment store and probably recoup more than that price.
Quality: Quality appears good. I can't imagine it going bad anywhere and needing to be replaced. If over the years the rubber center becomes compromised, I'll be happy to buy another one now that my horse is finally happy. I've seen a well-used one that frayed where the fabric meets the leather ends. The girth had been kept folded that way so I will not fold mine. Not sure how old that one was; it still had a good rubber center.
Summary: I think the reason my horse likes this girth is because the rubber center is stretchy and the entire section makes contact, rather than only through the middle of a wide area. It also has a shaped area to the rubber underside that is probably comfortable against his sternum. That is what this girth has that other large center girths do not. My horse is happy so I'm happy.
