Category: Jumping Saddles
Purchase: I bought this item through a seller on ebay and paid $1250, which is practically the new price, but was alright with me since the saddle was never used.
Likes: The saddle is monoflap and fit my leg perfectly, I have a very long femur and a short calf and always struggle to find a nice fit. The saddle fit the two horses I was training at the time, a true shaped Thoroughbred and a Warmblood built Thoroughbred. One was very slender in the shoulder with a high whither, but was 17.3 hands. My saddle is a 17.5" in MW and gave her great clearance and plenty of shoulder room, she actually put her back into the saddle rather than hollowing out from it, as she did with every other saddle I've tried on her. It also made her open up her stride more and get more spunky in rides -- it was very obvious that it felt better and she stopped being girth sour. It fit the warmblood very nice and helped balance his movements and bucking and kept me from tipping forward. This saddle is the most comfortable one I have ever sat in, which is anything form Stubben to a PJ or a Devoucoux, it also fit me much better than an expensive brand saddle.
Dislikes: There is nothing that I dislike about this saddle, I think it is an absolute steal and it is pleasing both in aesthetics and functionality.
Quality: The saddle is flocked with a very nice foam, that gives just enough to be comfortable for the horse. The leather is soft and grips very well, which I find very beneficial with a horse that jumps you out of the tack. It has a very fancy white stitching and piping around the seat and through the flaps. The saddle looks cognac at first glance, but darkens to a deep mahogany once oiled. It has nice billets that are a bit stiff at first but loosen with oiling. I find this saddle fits horses that have a bit of a high whither, it looks tipped forward on horses with a flatter back. The MW that I have fits horses with broad shoulders but narrow barrels, which is a trait I see in most event horses.
Summary: A very nice and comfortable saddle, highly recommended if you have a long femur. This saddle does very well on the generic event or TB horse, as it's built to fit an uphill horse. I would definitely buy this again in a heartbeat, beyond pleased with this purchase.
