Purchase: I took a clinic riding a Ricotti cow horse saddle and a Hunter ranch saddle when everyone else was riding a Fallis. Soon after, I fell into the chance of purchasing a genuine Slim Fallis saddle for $375 with the stirrup turners and ridden by an aged lady rider names Shirley who had it made for her. It was serviceable and good to use for training once you got it onl I was 60 something myself and the horn portion of the saddle is very heavy in contrast to the cantle. Fortunately my left shoulder is stronger, I got tired of this somedays and wondered how it felt to each of my high and thick withered horses. I think it was better on the high narrow withered mare than the wide withered chunky gelding. the seat is slick so it is not the most secure of saddles. One day my colt crow hopped up a 45 degree embankment and I slipped of fthe slick thing. The tooling was sparse whick I like. It was oak leaves, shallow and primitive compared to my berry basket weave Ricotti. I slipped off. The old Huntter was far the superior saddle for training and trail riding. I was invlluenced by the name Fallis and John Fallis was kind to send me the history on the saddle. I sold it for $350 and some trader got it I am sure. However, I needed to clean out the barn and move. It was NOT my favorite saddle. Is it a fad again?
