Purchase: About 2009 at Horseland Australia on special/sale ~ $135. Purchased after a friend fell and was injured after being dragged. I found these Kwik Outs worked(see below) and tried to buy another pair for my other saddle -but couldn't get them anywhere... until finally they became available again recently (August 2016) and bought my 2nd pair for $190au.

Likes: They work. I fell off about 6 years ago and one Kwik-Out had sprung open. During athletic horse behaviours (buck/ rear shy etc) they are just like a normal stirrup and function without opening. They look like normal stirrup irons which is great if using in competitions. Extremely easy/automatic to check they are in the correct position as you mount. Extremely easy to maintain and check function.

Dislikes: The nylon bristle pad (under boot sole) is slippery if wearing leather soled boots. Okay for rubber soled boots. (For children I'd put a coloured marker tape on the outside (sprung) bar to make it very obvious).

Quality: Stainless steel. Appear to be very good quality.

Summary: They worked for me and greatly reduced the risk of being dragged. That's why I now have one for each saddle. Highly recommended.
