Purchase: I have had different types of Schneiders turnout blankets - I think I bought more than 10 - all turnouts - usually the VFree but have had others also. I bought these blankets between 2011 and 2014. I paid between 100.00 and 200.00 per blanket.
Likes: I love the VFree fit. They are contoured and stay in place reasonably well. The tail flaps are a little short, but the blanket wears well and are comfortable on the horse. The heavyweight blankets keep the horses very warm.
Dislikes: All of the waterproofing eventually failed. The ones I bought originally lasted a season, but the ones I bought more recently (2014) failed in as little as the first month. My horses live outside right now and if you cannot afford to replace 10 turnout blankets because your horse is getting wet, I would advise going with a different brand.
Quality: Construction is good, blankets fit the horse well
Summary: Dealing with Schneiders on the waterproofing issue is a nightmare. They want the blankets returned so that they can find out why the waterproofing failed. This is almost impossible to do in the middle of winter. Also, blankets over successive years have had the waterproofing fail. Some almost immediately and others after a few months. They have not put the effort in to consistently find out why the waterproofing is not working on its turnout blankets and sheets year after year and fix the issue.
