Purchase: I was looking for a light, western-style saddle for my short-backed paso fino. I found this saddle used on ebay for $500. When it arrived, I realized I had gotten a true bargain. For the quality, it could have sold for much more. It is a unique and handsome saddle with its horn, plantation flaps, endurance leathers and English stirrups, with a weight of only 25 lbs.
Likes: Wonderful quality with sturdy leather and tight stitching. Lovely tooling. The short skirt made it perfect for my paso fino. He rode like a dream in it. The offset rigging drew the girth away from the horse's elbow, allowing for freedom of movement.
Dislikes: The seat could have used more padding but I solved that with a thin gel pad.
Because I am 5'2" with a bad back and shoulder, I had a hard time raising the long plantation flaps over the back of my horse. The saddle fit him so well that I considered having a saddle-maker cut off most of the length of the flaps. But that would have chopped off the tooling and would have been a dreadful thing to do to such a beautiful saddle. So I sold it.
Quality: Excellent all the way around.
Summary: I was happy to find a beautifully made saddle by someone who is proud enough to stamp his personal name (Eric J. Denham) on his product. I highly recommend the Denham Saddlery!
