Purchase: The main distributor for these wonderful hoof boots is in Vernon, BC Canada and they are Stride Equus. The boots cost $349 Canadian ($289 US) and Stride Equus offers a very good trial program. For $25 Canadian plus shipping you can order the boot and try it out for 2 weeks prior to purchase. The trial money goes towards your purchase if you decide to order a pair.
Likes: I have tried a couple types of boots (Swiss and Old Mac) and what I love about these boots is that they fit nice a snug to the horses foot without excess bulk. The more flexible nature of this boot is nicer than other stiffer boots allowing the foot to move in as natural way possible yet providing protection. And the fact that every piece is replaceable is fantastic - to me that more than compensates for the higher purchase price.
Dislikes: Marquis just changed the material it uses to make the boot - while I am happy that they are making them with better material this caused me no end of troubles because it threw the sizing off for my horse who was borderline between sizes. I was quite disappointed in my size 2's because they twisted on his foot but now that they switched them for a size 1 I love them. So, be very careful of the measurements - a smaller snugger size works much better than a larger looser one!
Quality: I have found the construction and quality of the product to be very good. Stainless steel screws ensure no rusting and everything is clean to ensure no rough edges to damage the horse's foot. All the replacement parts are easy to change and the boot is of strong enough construction to hold up to the toughest riding/horse play.
Summary: Out of all the boots I think the Marquis Supergrip is the current best. The nice low profile, snug fit. The fact that every single piece is replacable and the flexible material allowing for maximium natural hoof action makes this boot a real winner in my books.
