Purchase: I purchased this saddle online from Stateline Tack for $629. They were having a "free shipping" special and they promised I could return the saddle if need be to my local Stateline Tack/PetsMart store, so I went ahead and ordered it. I had been researching the Courbette Magic for some time, and was intrigued by the all-weather leather and the company's claim that the saddle tree flexed for horses ranging between medium-narrow and medium-wide withers. I have a thoroughbred and an Arabian, so it seemed worth a try to see if the saddle would fit them.
Likes: Nice chestnut color and the leather felt like regular leather, even with the waterproof treatment. The saddle came with a fitted cover and a name plate.
Dislikes: I did not find this saddle comfortable at all; the seat was very hard and the saddle "squeeked" when I rode in it. Additionally, the twist on the saddle is quite wide, so unless you are used to riding a wide twist, you might find it uncomfortable, as I did. This saddle was too wide for my thoroughbred and not wide enough for my Arab.
Quality: Up close, this is not a high-quality saddle--the stitching was not consistent and there were a few places where the stitching stopped short or was crooked. The fold of the leather over the cantle was not taut.
Summary: This saddle was not a good representation of the Courbette line, which is usually higher quality. I would suggest spending the $629 on a better quality used saddle that will hold up and be more comfortable for horse and rider. If you do want to try out this saddle, make sure you can return it if it is not a good fit for you or your horse!
