Purchase: Purchased at AQHA Congress in 2001 for approximately $250.00.
Likes: Fabulous blanket that has now been worn through four cold Canadian winters. The added neck piece provided additional warmth and protection from snow, wind and rain and the fit above the withers made it extremely comfortable for my horse. There's extremely little wear and tear on it. Purple color is still crisp. There are only small minor rubs on the 1200 Denier and none of the straps have been ripped or pulled. The tail flap is still on although I've watched many attempts by other horses to pull it off (obviously, they were jealous!).
Money has never been better spent. Only problem is that its a 78" and my new horse only requires a 75".
Dislikes: The seam between the body of the blanket and the neck extension caused my horse's mane to get rubbed off. It would be nice if Dee rings were sewn into the shoulders so that a hood could readily be attached.
Quality: Heavy duty waterproof cloth of 1200 Denier. Cotton lining with heavy insulation fiber.
Nice front closure with velco and three point clasp. Sturdy belly straps.
Summary: Other than the fact that my horse looked like "Barney", I truly love this blanket. It has at least 5 more years of wear left in it. I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quality product for warmth and weather protection.
We spend so much on keeping our horses well, safe and healthy. Blanketing them properly only makes good sense (and cents).
