Purchase: I bought this new at SLT for 17.99
Likes: My horse loves this bit. I rode him in a plain Dee ring snaffle for the longest time, and thought, well, he's got a great soft mouth, I suppose I can try a really gentle bit and see what happens. He's responsive and soft in this bit, even softer than my dee ring. I couldn't believe how well he went when I tried it out. I initially was going to buy one of the more expensive french links, but decided against it in case he didn't like it. I'm glad I didn't though, because this bit has been great.
Dislikes: Not really a dislike, but my horse takes a 4 3/4 normally, and so that's what I bought. I went home and when I put it on him I immediately knew it was too small. So I washed it off and brought it back. The people happily exchanged it for a 5" which was perfect. So they run a little small. No big deal the customer service was excellent, I was afraid I would end up with a bit that was too small, but the manager said they wanted their customers to be happy, so an exchange was fine!
Quality: I've only had it for a few months, but it seems well made, I looked closely for sharp points, found none, horse moves comfortably in it, and even though it's a loose ring, it has not pinched his lips. The spots that the rings are in are sort of beveled so I suppose that helps it to not pinch. I'm very happy with the product especially for what I paid for it.
Summary: Definitely a good investment if you want a gentle bit for a great price. Can't beat the customer service at SLT either!
