Purchase: I originally wanted SMB Medicine Boots. I went to Stateline Tack in Waterbury, CT where I knew they carried them so I could check them out. When I got there, there were the SMB's and then I saw Classic Equine boots. SMB's were like $59.99 and the classic equines were just over $70- Comparing between the two, classic equine seemed so much hardier, with a thicker, rougher feeling material. The SMB's had more like a spandex feel that would make the leg sweat. Plus it had a cool skid protector, and the whole boot seemed very supportive.
Likes: I love that these boots do not slip in anyway- they stay exactly where I put them. I love how supportive they are. Like wrapping your horses legs but better and faster! They would be great for a cutting horse or a reiner. They have a skid plate that wraps around the whole back of the fetlock. I ride english do dressage and jump, so for training purposes they're great!
Dislikes: The only thing that I dont like on them is that the velcro straps can stick to any part of the boot, so theres not that "easy on easy off" with them.
Quality: The construction of the boots are great!. Strong, durable, easy to clean-you can put them right in the washing machine. They go on tight, but not too tight. And the skid plate is made out of the same material bullet proof vests are!!! I've had my pair for about 2 years now and they still look brand new. They come in many different colors-white, black, navy, hunter, burgundy, red, and I believe thats it. I would like to see them come out with more colors for people who like the flouresents and pastels.
Summary: I would recommend this boot to anyone looking for a good protective/supportive boot. Great for any discipline too. Affordable, and worth every penny. They have outlasted a lot of my wraps!
