Purchase: I bought this from Barnes and Noble for $29.95. It can also be found at many horse and tack shops.
Likes: This is by far one of the best horse first aid/horse health books on the market. It is easy to read, plain and simple. You DO NOT need to have a veterinary degree to use this book. The way that you use it is by looking for the symptoms, and from there it's "if..., then..." and step by step tells you what to do. It tells you how to perform simple first aid to minor injuries or to call the vet in an emergency. This book covers everything from bad breath to blindness, and includes helpful pages for phone numbers, and records of vaccinations/meds, hoof and expenses records.
Dislikes: Nothing!
Quality: It is a paperback book on a metal spiral binding. It would be nice if they made a version that was laminated as not to get so dirty at the barn.
Summary: When I first became a horse owner I think my vet was getting sick of my calls. He's doing this, he looks like that, etc. When I asked my vet what book she recommended she told me about this one. It's perfect for the over-cautious mother!
