Dressage Saddles

Manufacturer: Cliff Barnsby Kantor
Model: Kantor
Category: Dressage Saddles

Purchase: I bought this saddle brand new in Prince George, BC, Canada after trying out many saddles. I paid $1800 Cdn for it. It is a slightly wider dressage saddle for my QH x Anglo-Arab gelding.

Likes: The seat is so soft and comfortable I could ride in it all day. The leather is incredibly sleek. This saddle places me in the correct position and I love riding in it.

Dislikes: This saddle was fitted to my horse. However, due to the girthing system, it has a tendancy to slide forward during canter work. (My quarter horse cross doesnt have the barrel of a warmblood). Thus even though ive been told by many saddle fitters that it correctly fits him, it will not stay in place and pinches his shoulders. I think this is due to the slightly higher pommel in this make of saddle. Although it is a fit 4 (slightly wide), I have found that this saddle fits better on warmbloods with a higher wither. And yes, my gelding has a wither (he is not that wide!!)

Quality: The workmanship is flawless and the leather is of high quality. I do believe, however, that the girth attachments could have been made of a thicker, more high quality leather, as they are showing quite a bit of wear after only a couple months use.

Summary: As much as this saddle feels perfect for me, I have had nothing but trouble with it on my current horse. I am selling it in hopes to find a dressage saddle that girths up more like a multipurpose saddle. I would recommend this saddle for warmblood built horses but if you have a stocky little QH, this is not the saddle for you.
