Purchase: I purchased this saddle from a retail tack store for team roping, the trainer that started my horse in the box used The Crates saddles on all of his rope horses and gave them a very high recommendation. I paid $1625.00 for this saddle.
Likes: The quality of the Crates saddle by far surpasses the other team roping saddles that I looked at in the same price categories, and believe me, I am a prudent shopper and looked at them all! The fit for both of my horses is perfect, and they are not built the same. It is also very comfortable to ride in.
Dislikes: The only thing that I could find about it that could have been improved on is the snap on the hoof pick holder was placed too close to the edge of the leather, I can see that at some point the leather may give out around the snap head.
Quality: There was alot of attention to detail on the construction and quality of this saddle, the horn caps outer edges was covered in rawhide for added strength, the stitching and braiding was faultless, the tooling was obviously hand tooled, the leather was high quality, and everything had a very finished look to it.
Summary: I was so impressed with this saddle, that I sold one of my other saddles and purchased a second Crates Team Roper saddle model #9330, which is absolutely beautiful! Everyone that sees it has to come over and take a closer look at it.
