Purchase: I just started riding again on a regular basis when my daughter went off to college. Her horse is usually very well-bahaved, but will pull an occasional spook or buck when the mood strikes him. My old saddle needed more work than it was worth putting into it, and another saddle I had bought many years ago as a spare did not fit me at all. As I am now "aged" I wanted something with security and comfort.
Likes: As soon as I sat in the saddle, I knew it was a perfect fit. My seat and leg went right where they needed to be and the owner of the tack shop had me try other comparable saddles, just to prove to me that this was best suited for my body type.
I've been riding regularly now for about a month and am even jumping real fences again. I've also found that I'm not experiencing the muscle and back soreness I experienced every time I rode in my old saddle. I have survived several large spooks and spins without losing my position as well!
Dislikes: I haven't found anything yet that I don't like. It is just beautiful and wonderfully comfortable.
Quality: I tried several saddles in the "inexpensive" range and although I found several comfortable, did not see the quality of construction that I find on the Pessoa. The leather was a fairly unattractive orange, but the saddle shop owner had oiled one of them to show people what a beautiful chocolate brown color the saddle oiled out to be. All the stitching is perfect and the small knee blocks are placed just right.
Summary: This is a fantastic saddle. Sadly, I understand that this model has been discontinued, but are still available and well worth the price. I paid $1500.00 for mine, and being a friend of the store owner, received a $200.00 store credit so I was able to purchase new leathers, girth and pad. Well worth the list price of about $2,000.00 in my opinion.
