Model: Dick Peiper Show Reiner
Category: Reining Saddles
Purchase: I purchased this saddle from the Bargain Corral Catalog in 2001. It was $1295 with a matching headstall and breast collar.
Likes: It is a comfortable and a very pretty saddle. The leather is decent quality and the tooling is very nice. It is fairly light weight for a reiner.
Dislikes: Now that it is 4 yrs old, it is showing a fair amount of wear from only light use. The nails are coming out of the swells where the seat attaches. I also noticed it does not fit a horse very well. It has been on 4 different horses with different builds and really did not fit any of them very well. It put pressure marks on two of the horses from only light riding of no more than 1 hour at at time. It tends to pinch the withers and flare out at the bottom.
Quality: The construction is okay, the quality is fair. Appropriate for the price I would say.
Summary: An okay saddle for the money, but I would not purchase another.
