Purchase: I bought this blanket from Dover Saddlery for $64.90 plus shipping. I was looking for a cheaper blanket for my new Thoroughbred.
Likes: I liked this blanket's design. It fit both my Thoroughbred and my more stocky Quarter Horse. It was cut well through the shoulders. The tail flap stayed put and did its job. The surcingles held up well, and don't come undone easily. There is Velcro on the front under the buckles, making the front very secure. The sizes fit a variety of horses. My horse has never gotton a rub from the nylon lining.
Dislikes: This blanket is only of average quality. The add claimed a water repellent nylon outer, the blanket leaks like crazy. The blanket wasn't nearly as heavy and warm as it claimed. On cold nights, I had to layer this blanket with a sheet to keep my Thoroughbred warm. I would say this a medium weight blanket at best. The fleece at the withers didn't hold up very well. The outer shelling ripped everytime you touched it. Well, maybe not, but within the first week it had a dozen rips in it from my other horse's teeth. The blanket doesn't fit as close as I'd like around the hindquarters, they tend to let wind in around them. The fleece at the withers tended to rub my horses mane.
Quality: The construction isn't as nice as I'd like. The blanket ripped easily and wasn't as warm as it claimed. I did like the different fasteners. The elastic leg straps are nice and stretchy.
Summary: Overall, I didn't particularly like this blanket. Although it does fit well, it didn't hold up like I'd like.
