Purchase: I bought this saddle from a tack trailer at a major horse show in the Los Angeles area. I was looking for a new saddle to do hunters and jumpers, plus some eventing. We heard about an Antares for sale and it just happened to fit me and my horse very well, which can be a problem with a warmblood. We paid around $1600 used for it.
Likes: I love the color, one, which isn't really important, but, well, you know. Second, it is very comfortable, and fits lots of different horses well. The knee and thigh blocks fit my legs well and help over bigger fences. It is soo nice, that my trainer has tried to "steal" it many a time, using it while I am away!
Dislikes: Hmmm, maybe that it does not clean itself! There is really nothing I don't love about it!
Quality: It is a very well made saddle. The lovely calf leather of mine is particuraly attractive to mice, but despite a couple of nibbles it has held up beautifuly. I believe it has foam planels, which have neither squashed or mushed in any way. If it gets scrached, a little it of conditioner cleans it up right away.
Summary: A great saddle for any hunter jumpers, even eventer like me! There are a great many different sizes avilable, colors, and different leathers to choose from.
