Purchase: I purchased this hunt coat from a vendor at an AQHA Regional show. The original price was $197 with 40% off, so I paid around $120.
Likes: I love how lightweight the coat is. My previous coats, were older and made of medium weight wool (too hot in summer). This RJ Classics coat is extremely comfortable and the fit is excellent. I was amazed that off the rack it fit better than my two Grand Prix coats that cost $300 new.
I also loved that the sleeves were made extra long and I didn't need to lengthen them. My Grand Prix coats had to be let out in the sleeve because they were too short off the rack.
As a bonus, the sizing on the RJ Classics puts you in a smaller size. I wore a 10 in the Grand Prix, but in the RJ Classics I needed a size 2. Even though it's just a number on a tag, it's a little boost to the confidence. I know I'll feel better about myself wearing a 2 as opposed to a 10 :P
Dislikes: If I HAD to pick something I didn't like, it's that these coats aren't as easy to find as other brands. Since I bought this one, I've searched catalogs & stores so I could possibly buy another one, and haven't had much luck locating dealers.
Quality: Construction is excellent. The fabric is top notch 100% worsted wool. I'm a seamstress by trade, so I've spent some time around various grades of fabrics. When shopping, I'm always checking out how things are made and if the seams match up, etc. I was really impressed with this coat.
Summary: Bottom line is, I can't believe they can make such a quality off-the-rack coat for such a reasonable price. I was a die hard Grand Prix hunt coat fan, but I can practically buy two RJ Classics coats with the same quality for as much as one Grand Prix would cost.
