Purchase: My mom's mare was becoming to strong and her bit was doing nothing to help us control her. She would constantly thrash her head and bolt forward in rebelion. My mom decided to try a slow twist snaffle from Crawford's Saddlery because it was the same bit my hunter uses. It cost us around thirty five dollars.
Likes: The bit ended up being a good choose because three of our four horses use that bit. It is a good alternative to a harsher bit or a curb chain especially if your horse is sensative and 'mouths' his old bit (like my moms horse). Our horse was changed we didn't need to pull at her mouth constantly and whenever we did pull back it would bite her enough so she would stop and listen.
Dislikes: the only thing I don't like about the bit is very common. It is metal so in the winter I have to warm it for the horse ( you could say I'm lazy) but that inconvenience comes with all bits.
Quality: The bit is a full cheek with small balls on the end of the sides and it has a slow twist on the piece in the mouth.
Summary: I do like this bit and the fact that it fits three of our horses so there is no need to buy two more bits. Overall it was a good investment.
