Purchase: Purchased in 1999 for $1500 from local tack store. Currently retails for about $2000.
Likes: VERY comfortable. The leather is very good quality and has survived rain, scratches, and dings with no ill effects. Kneeblocks are positioned for support while jumping, but flap is long enough and provides accurate position for dressage. I've never had problems with it staining my horse or my clothes, even when wet. Also, the gullet is nice and wide and doesn't get narrow towards the back, unlike some brands of lesser quality. Even after these few years the billets are hardly stretched, and the tree is still perfect.
Dislikes: I've found that this saddle doesn't fit high withered horses, which seems to be a brand trait. Also, the leather is on the slippery side, and I found that I had a lot more trouble with no-stirrup work than with a different saddle. Additionally, for higher level work, I found the saddle to be less effective because of the slipperiness. As a personal preference issue, I tend to like bigger kneerolls than what this saddle has, but they aren't too bad.
Quality: Stitching is great, leather quality amazing, the tree is balanced. They didn't take any shortcuts and it really shows. It's very high quality.
Summary: Definitely the most comfortable saddle I've ever had. I used it for eventing, dressage, foxhunting, trail riding and even polocrosse! I used it on two TBs but they didn't have mountainous withers. I use the wide tree on my QH and it fits perfectly. The new horse, though, is more of a typical TB and it doesn't fit her very well.
