Purchase: Used, but only a couple of months by the owner of the store.
Likes: I tried many many saddles for my gelding before deciding on the Zurich. He was very overweight at the time, making his wide back and shoulder even larger. This made a saddle very difficult to fit. I liked the Zurich's slightly larger wide size, a 35 instead of a 34, as in their other lines, and it fit him beautifully. As he has lost the excess weight he has muscled the fit is still perfect. I like the generous padding and the wide gullet this saddle has for my horse's comfort.
For me, it also fit like a glove and sitting correctly is effortless. I have a long upper leg and felt "right" immediately. The leather quality is excellent, I ride daily and it is showing no signs of any wear after almost 8 mos. The original owner had bought it and decided it wasn't the best fit for her very short backed, but also wide, horse so her use was minimal.
Dislikes: nothing
Quality: Excellent. I have owned many other saddles, including Keiffers, Stubbens and Passiers, and find the quality of this saddle to be on par. Attention to detail by Thornhill is very evident. I had questions about their saddles and called the company directly and was most pleased with the help and quick response I received from them. Customer service here was A-1.
Summary: I agree with the reviewer of the Germanina Dressage saddle when they say that Thornhill is one of the best kept secrets in the saddle industry. It is perhaps the nicest saddle I have ever purchased, especially when combined with their excellent customer relations.
