Purchase: I ordered this from Dover Saddlery this fall. I ordered it in a size 66/68 in navy with green binding. It cost $39.90. I wanted a liner to provide an extra layer of warmth under my pony's turnout sheet on cooler days.
Likes: This liner was a great purchase! In cooler weather my pony wears it under her turnout sheet. This was cheaper than buying a separate mid-weight turnout blanket and is a nice transition between the sheet and a heavy winter blanket.
The liner is closed front so there are not bulky buckles crammed in under the sheet. The surcingle has a velcro closure, so that there is nothing hard or bulky there either. It has a nylon lined shoulder. Without the liner my pony needs a shoulder guard under her sheet to prevent rubs, but when she is wearing the liner the shoulder guard is not necessary.
The liner fits great and appears to be comfortable for the pony. It has dee rings so that leg straps can be attached, but I have only used it without leg straps. They aren't necessary, it has never shifted. The fleece is great because if the temperature goes up and the pony sweats a little it will wick away the moisture.
The pony measures a 72, but takes a 69 Weatherbeeta. I ordered the liner in a 66/68 to make sure it would not peak out from under the size 69 sheet. The size is great for a liner, it hides under the blanket. It would be a little too short a fit for a top layer.
Dislikes: Shaving and hair get stuck in it, and sometimes it causes a bit of static cling, but these are problems you will always have with fleece!
Quality: The construction is very good, especially for the price. The stitching is good and the fleece is nice and soft.
Summary: This has been a very useful layering piece. I also plan to use it under her heavy blanket on those very cold sub-zero nights we get a few times a year. It is high quality for a very reasonable price. If I ever need another fleece liner I will order another one.
