Purchase: I believe we paid around $75 for this blanket. It was supposed to get extremely cold that winter, and my horse grows somewhat of a coat but needed a rain sheet because there were nothing but a small shed and trees to protect him from the elements. We couldn't spend a fortune on a lightweight waterproof sheet, so this was what we found. We purchased from KY Horse Supply, the blanket in green with green piping.
Likes: It kept my horse dry and protected his body well from ice, sleet, rain, and snow. It was everything I expected from a cheap-o blanket. The size 78 fit my Thoroughbred fine. I like that the underside is lined with cotton tee-shirt material, not mesh.
Dislikes: It tore really easily - there are about 3 rips on the sides that tore even through the cotton. I do not like that the straps that cross on the back legs are nylon and not elastic - they rubbed my horse in spots. It also lost most of it's waterproofing after a couple of washes at the cleaners ((my horse is a very messy boy)).
Quality: It was not bad quality for the price you pay. It is the CHEAPEST of all Weatherbeetas, so I didn't expect it to hold up all that well. I will invest in a Rambo next time - they are much better blankets and last much longer than this one, which lasted 1 winter.
Summary: Not bad quality for the price you pay, but could be more rip-resistant.
