Purchase: I have ordered all my Riders International blankets from Dover Saddlery, usually on sale for about $80.00. I have a horse who is death on blankets, he just finds away to tuck his hind legs up into the straps and rip them right off no matter how I adjust them. Obviously, I'm not getting this guy any expensive clothing, although I need quality since it gets down to 0 here in the mountains some nights!
Likes: The Riders blankets are nicely designed to fit my thoroughbreds, with good-quality, lightweight materials that don't rub shoulders or withers. I love the ripstop nylon lining, as it always seems to make the horse cleaner when I take off the blanket! I've never had trouble with them shifting or pulling back on the shoulders, so I am happy to use them even on the most thin-skinned creature.
Dislikes: I guess I can't think of a thing that isn't positive -- these are my idea of the perfect, economical blanket.
Quality: The construction is excellent, with good, smooth linings, tough exterior, and replaceable leg straps. The front has surcingle-type buckles which I like, and the addition of velcro to keep the chest area cozy and covered up. Nice design.
Summary: This is the best blanket value out there, I think, and if your horse destroys it, you're not out a ton of money!
