Purchase: I needed a pretty but functional all around saddle for everyday riding. I bought the saddle directly from the manufacturer through an auction on ebay for $1289.
Likes: The saddle is very pretty. I bought the dark oil and it has stayed very nice looking. Nice combination of price and quality. Rides GREAT, better than a Chavez. Very balanced, seat isn't too wide or too narrow for a female.
Dislikes: I had to condition the heck out of it when I first got it. The leather seemed stiff and it squeaked. After conditioning it with Lexol a few times, rubbing and flexing the leather, and baby powdering certain squeaky areas, it rode nicely.
The stirrup leathers were WAY TOO LONG when I got it, and they were supposed to be the shortened "ladies" leathers. Plenty of room to punch more holes, though. I am 5'6" and I needed 3 extra holes punched for me! The leather is VERY THICK and you need big holes for the blevins buckles so I would suggest you ask them to punch additional holes before shipping!
Quality: The leather is thick and of good quality, the stitching is even, the tooling is nicely done. It is a quality saddle, I think much nicer than the "off the rack" Billy Cooks and others. The seat material, while soft, has held up well. The conchos are set deeply or permanently attached, so they won't be coming out (I was thinking of changing them, but don't think it is possible now).
Summary: A good all-around or reining saddle for a good price. Would make a nice starter saddle for showing rail classes if you can't afford silver.
