Purchase: I purchased this saddle about 4 or 5 years ago from Horse town as my first saddle. I was looking for something that would hold up, wouldn't require much maintenance, and could be used for everything I liked to do- flatwork, trail riding, dressage work, showing, and jumping.
My barn friend raved about the durability of Wintec, and that you could simply hose it down if you got it dirty on the trails.
Likes: I love this saddle! It had held up for me perfectly. I can use it for anything, and the "easy change gullet system"is great. I have found that the red gullet fits anything warbloods to quarter horses to Arabians to tiny ponies. I can use my Wintec 500 on any horse in the barn. Polishes up pretty nice for shows, too.
I also love how comfy it is. I broke it in easily and it is now custom fit to me.
Oh yes I almost forgot- I love the Wintec stirrup leathers. Here is a link to a picture--http://www.freedomrider.com/01-0746.gif
SUPER easy to adjust and use!
Dislikes: I didn't like how the stirrup leathers made shiny rubs on the flap of the saddle. You can't fix it either on the synthetic material. Also, the suede knee roll got a little worn looking, but hey, I've used it for 4 years!
The only reason I am in the market for another saddle is because, sadly, I have outgrown it and I also want something a little nicer and close contact, because I've decided that I would like to focus on hunter/jumper.
Quality: Holds up FABULOUSLY! if you happen to drop it, no worries, because it can't get scratched or hurt! I have had zero problems with any kind of stitching coming up. If you want a very long lasting saddle, choose Wintec! Ohhh I love it!
Summary: In conclusion, the Wintec 500 is a GREAT first saddle, or for anyone who doesn't want to worry about caring for their saddle. I highly recommend it.
