Dressage Saddles

Manufacturer: Amerigo
Model: Original Dressage
Category: Dressage Saddles

Purchase: I did an even trade on this saddle for my Devoucoux Milady. The Amerigo was selling on eBay for $2000 before we did the trade. It was 2-3 years old. It is a 2 flap (good because I am 5ft5 and a little long from hip to knee). Tree is a -1, which is a med/narrow- like a County #2 fit.

Likes: I love the deep seat and size of the blocks. Because I event and have my foundation in jumping, this saddle allows me to sit but makes my leg adopt a dressage position. The seat pitches me a bit forward which forces me to sit back. The leather is superior and the billets have the V system with elastic inserted to help the saddle move with the horse rather than against it. Fits my high-withered TB with nothing but a square pad- a true first!!! Of course, it is as comfy as a couch! I cannot praise the gullet width enough! I thought that it may not work on a horse who's spine is kinda prominent and a bit slab sided, but my mare moves and responds like never ever before!

Dislikes: Nothing. From the recessed stirrup bars and the big squishy knee rolls to the deep seat and TB conformation mould, it is fabulous! (I thought the Devoucoux was nice, but it truly cannot compare! I am talking about the Milady and the Makila!!!)

Quality: Superior. I have a new Amerigo jumping saddle and was a little worried about how the leather will hold up because it is so soft and nice; after getting this saddle and using it now for a few weeks, I have no worries. It is incredibly soft and sticky, but it is wearing fabulously! I don't even have marks at the pommel!

Summary: THE saddle for anyone wanting to get a little more out of her/the horse's performance. If I had the chance, I would become an Amerigo dealer!!!
